From new to the show pen or experienced – TQHA has something for you!
The TQHA show department promotes Texas amateur, open, and youth exhibitors as well as our Regional Texas Affiliates in ownership and activity of American Quarter Horses. The association not only produces and participates in various shows within the state but also approves close to 50 AQHA shows hosted within the state by area Texas Affiliates. Points earned at these shows are used towards year-end awards as well as qualifying for the AQHA Youth World!

Owners & exhibitors must be a current member of the Texas Quarter Horse Association to be eligible for all State Championship High Point Awards. Points are counted on a retroactive basis if memberships are paid by March 31st. Thereafter, only points starting from the date membership is received by TQHA will be used.
It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to check the accuracy of their standings/points.
If you don’t see your name on the points list it may be because both owner/exhibitor are not TQHA members

PROGRAM & RULES – STATE CHAMPIONSHIP HIGH POINT AWARDS 2024
General Rules:
- Owners and exhibitors must be a current member of Texas Quarter Horse Association or the Texas Quarter Horse Youth Association to be eligible for all State Championship High Point Awards. (Year-long Show memberships purchased on or before October 31 will expire on November 30 of the same year. Memberships purchased after November 1 will be valid through November 30 of the following year.)
- Point counting period for all state championship programs will run from December 1st through November 30th of the following year
- Points will be counted on a retroactive basis if membership of the owner is paid by March 31st. Thereafter, only points starting from the date membership is received by TQHA will be used.
- Points will be earned at all TQHA Horse Show Series Shows approved shows. Shows must meet criteria to be a TQHA Horse Show Series Approved Show. A listing of these shows can be found on www.tqha.com
- In the event of a tie, the horse shown in the greatest number of TQHA Horse Show Series approved shows in that event will be declared the winner.
- TQHA will follow AQHA show rules. Points will be tabulated from AQHA show records submitted by each approved show.
- Changes and modifications to the State Championship High Point Awards program and rules may be modified as deemed necessary by the TQHA H&P Committee.

Example: A horse placing 2nd in a class of 10 entries will receive 8 TQHA points.
ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARDS:
- A minimum of thirty-five (35) total points are needed to qualify for any year-end champion and reserve champion awards in each class or division if the class is offered a minimum of five (5) times during the point counting year.
- A minimum of sixteen (16) total points are needed to qualify for any year-end champion and reserve champion awards in each class or division if the class is offered four (4) times or less during the point counting year.
AWARDS:
- Awards will be given in each approved and qualified class
- Awards will be selected by State Championship Committee
- Additional awards and special recognition awards may be added to the program if such conditions arise which merit special awards. Recommendations shall come from the State Championship Committee & will be presented to the TQHA Halter & Performance committee. If approved, they will be forwarded to TQHA Board of Directors for final approval.
